Five charities, Citizens Advice Wirral, Age UK Wirral, Wirral MIND, Involve North West and Change, Grow, Live, have joined up to offer wellbeing services to Wirral residents at the new Flourish Wellbeing Hub at Victoria Central Hospital in Liscard. Dame Angela Eagle MP for Wallasey, launched the new Hub on the 25th November.
Flourish Wellbeing Hub offers a range of Social Prescribing services including advice, support services and groups for older people, community connectors, drug and alcohol support services, new parents groups and much more. There will also be a community cafe, run by Change, Grow, Live, that will provide a place for people to drop in to find out more about the services available at Flourish – and have a new cup of tea!
The Hub is supported and funded by the Ministry of Justice and NHS Property service National Social Prescribing scheme. It provides a place for local residents to tell their story once and then access a range of services that will help their wellbeing.
Dame Angela Eagle MP, added;
“Flourish Wellbeing Hub is the first Social Prescribing Wellbeing Hub in Wirral. I am pleased that it has been launched in Liscard at Victoria Central Hospital, where lots of local residents are already used to travelling to. The Hub brings together a range of excellent community and voluntary sector organisations and offers wrap-around services that will help people improve their health and wellbeing. I look forward to seeing the Hub develop in the coming months”
Justice Minister, Lord Bellamy said:
“Access to targeted and joined-up services as early as possible can make a huge difference to people when they are most in need of a helping hand.
“This hub will offer much-needed legal support to people in the Wirral in one easy-to-access space, reflecting the range of challenges they may be facing at times of difficulty.”
Carol Johnson-Eyre, Chief Executive of Citizens Advice Wirral, said:
“We are delighted to be working in partnership with four fantastic local charities, the Social Prescribing team at NHS Property services and the Ministry of Justice. Being well isn’t just about accessing health services but also addressing loneliness, social isolation, addressing issues such as drug and alcohol addictions, getting counselling, accessing advice on welfare rights and other issues and being able to participate in your local community. Flourish will be the place to get support whatever you need to improve your general wellbeing”
