Chief Executive Officer
Our CEO – Carol Johnson-Eyre, leads the Citizens Advice Wirral team, overseeing the delivery of information, advice, and social prescribing services to residents across Wirral. This role includes responsibility for operational oversight, ensuring quality service for clients, and the wellbeing of staff and volunteers. Carol also manages fundraising efforts, securing essential grants and contracts, and works closely with Trustees on governance as the Company Secretary, upholding all legal standards.
Motivation: Passionate about supporting Wirral residents during challenging times, the CEO values the positive impact on clients’ financial, mental, and physical wellbeing. A lifelong Wirral resident, they take pride in working with a dedicated team of staff and volunteers to make a difference.
A community connection: Born at St Catherine’s Hospital, Carol has lived in Wirral all her life and joined Citizens Advice Wirral in 2015. She has a long history of volunteer work in the community, from youth groups to serving as a School Governor and volunteering with the Brownies.
Key impact: During the COVID-19 pandemic, our CEO led the team to continue services without interruption, helping thousands of residents manage issues like income loss and food insecurity. Moving the team to remote work and delivering equipment directly to staff and volunteers, she ensured the community had access to essential support during a challenging time.
Deputy CEO, Head of Advice and Casework
Meet Tracy McGinn, our Deputy CEO and Head of Advice and Casework, this leader oversees all advice and casework projects, ensuring clients receive effective and compassionate support in areas ranging from debt to welfare assistance.
Motivation: Driven by the desire to make a difference, the Deputy CEO values the chance to help people through impactful work. She transitioned from roles supporting families and young people into the charity sector to contribute to meaningful change in the community.
Deputy CEO, Head of Health
Our Deputy CEO and Head of Health – Anna Barnish, leads the health-focused initiatives at Citizens Advice Wirral, including social prescribing and partnerships with healthcare providers and support services for conditions like long COVID and substance misuse.
In addition to Anna’s strategic role, she leads and mentors managers, helps maintain a safe workplace for staff and volunteers, and represents the organisation at stakeholder meetings.
Motivation: Dedicated to creating positive change, the Deputy CEO is passionate about raising awareness and advocating for people in need. She appreciates working alongside a team of individuals committed to shared values and making a direct impact on people’s lives.
A community connection: Anna’s commitment to the community goes beyond her role at Citizens Advice Wirral. Having worked for over 20 years across Liverpool, North Birkenhead, and Wirral, she brings invaluable local knowledge and a profound dedication to the health and wellbeing of residents. Anna has been instrumental in developing impactful partnerships, including collaborations with local mental health services, addiction support, and primary care providers.
Key impact: Since joining Citizens Advice Wirral, Anna has been instrumental in developing the Social Prescribing Scheme, expanding from just 3 link workers to 25 working across multiple PCNs in Wirral. This initiative supports clients in improving their health and wellbeing through holistic, community-based services. Her work has been pivotal in securing funding and driving organisational growth, ensuring the long-term sustainability of Citizens Advice Wirral’s health-focused services.
